Like most families, we've tried a variety of winter boots and we always come back to our tried and true Stonz bootz. They are the lightest winter boot on the market weighing in at 0.62kg (1.4 pounds) per pair of boots (based on a pair of size 1 youth boots) and are the warmest boots we've found so far.

Reasons to Love Stonz Winter Bootz
Happy Stonz Ambassador in his Mittz and Bootz |
Along with weight, comfort and warmth, we have to add that the boots are incredibly waterproof. I can't honestly remember a single occasion where my son had wet feet after playing outside in his Stonz boots. We put smart wool socks on his feet and combined with the boots, his feet are warm, toasty, and dry all winter long.

Stonz Winter Bootz and Mittz get us far into the backcountry each winter |
Other Reasons to Love Stonz Wear for Children
In addition to his Stonz bootz, my son also lives in his Stonz mittz all winter long and I swear by this product. We were seriously unprepared on our recent September hike I referred to in my opening paragraph and I had to keep screaming at my son to keep his hands out of the snow. I knew if he started playing in the snow, in the cheap mittens he was wearing, that he'd have freezing cold wet hands within minutes. (And then we all know that the hike is over!)
Warm hiking in Stonz Mittz and Bootz |
As long as my child is wearing his Stonz Mittz, I know that he can play outside for hours and that his hands will stay dry and warm no matter how much he interacts with the snow. The best feature with the mittz is that they go on over top of a child's snow suit or winter jacket and they stay on! Like the boots, they do not fall off thanks to adjustable drawstring elastics that work to cinch in the mitts at the wrists and at the elbows. (And the boots have the same elastics at the back to keep snow out.)
