Win a Gift Card to Spend at Cabela's Canada (Coming to Calgary Oct. 15th)

If you aren't familiar with the Cabela's product line or have never visited one of their outdoor stores before, you're in for a treat on October 15th when their first Calgary location opens at Deerfoot Mall. I had the opportunity to take a sneak peak at the new store this week and at first glance, I liked what I saw.

Described best on the Cabela's website,
"The store showcases thousands of products, including hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, boating and wildlife-watching gear, as well as outdoor clothing and outdoor-themed gifts and furnishings, Cabela's is famous for its strong brand and world-renowned reputation for delivering quality merchandise, value and legendary customer service."

I'll be the first to admit that I am no hunter or angler, and that I don't typically go shopping at stores that target the stereotypical "sportsman" or gal, but I liked Cabela's and quickly started building a Christmas list for my family.

Things that stood out for me:
  • Quality outdoor clothing by top brands along with Cabela's own premium brand
  • A guarantee on anything you buy which includes a life time warranty on anything that breaks, fails to operate as promised, or that is just plain unsatisfactory in any way.
  • A 90 day return policy on clothing should you fail to like something or discover it just does not fit the way you'd like
  • The archery range (I could see children enjoying a trip to Cabela's for this reason alone)
  • The homemade nuts and fudge! (the fudge is made fresh in store and the nuts were to die for! I'm stocking up for next year's hiking season!!)
  • There were some original toys and fun items my son would like for Christmas. (I know he'd love shooting marshmallows with a bow and that he'd find it fun to use a special fishing rod next time he gets to roast a hot dog over a campfire.)
  • A large camping section to rival what you'd see at Canadian Tire or other outdoor stores in Calgary
