It's Back! The Calgary Rocky Mountain Wine and Food Festival (And Win Tickets!)

Last year I promoted this festival, thinking that it would be fun, assuming I'd have a good time when I went, and hoping I'd find a new fav. bottle of vino to take on my next camping trip.Well, I was not disappointed and I have been waiting 11 months for this festival to come back to Calgary!

Last year my husband and I visited the Calgary Rocky Mountain Wine and Food Festival and had an amazingly fun date night! I have no idea who drove home after (it certainly wasn't me) but it was a blast and I can't wait to go again this year. I'm still drinking a bottle of wine that I discovered last year at the festival (and pick it up from the store every chance I get) and I'm hoping to find some new favourites this year. After all, how can you go camping without a bottle of wine? Or even head into the backcountry for the night without a fun "reward" for making it into the cabin, hut, or campsite.

Not into wine? No problem. The festival also gives you the chance to sample some pretty cool spirits (I'm really hoping I get to try the Pumpkin Spice Whiskey that I saw at the liqueur store the other day,) some great craft beers, and to sample the best food that Calgary chefs have to offer.

While this blog normally promotes "family-friendly" events and activities, this is one "adults only" event that I enjoy sharing. We all need an afternoon or evening away from the kids, opportunities to get out with our partner or some friends for a few hours, and chances to just go out and have fun sans the responsibilities of being a parent.

You'll probably only spend a couple of hours at the festival but you can "pair" the event with a bike ride on the Bow River or Elbow River pathway since the event is located at the BMO Centre at Stampede Park and you'll be right on the pathways, or you can head out for brunch or dinner with your partner or friends before or after the event.
